Ikea will launch its resell program
The Buy Back initiative will arrive in 27 countries
October 15th, 2020
Not just sneakers, the world of resell also comes to Ikea furniture. From next month, the Swedish company will give its customers the opportunity to obtain an online evaluation of their used furniture before taking them to the store to obtain a voucher to be used on future purchases.
Once returned, the furniture will be refurbished and put back on sale at a lower price, to offer customers an affordable and sustainable alternative. Not all furniture will be included in the program, customers will not be given the opportunity to get rid of kitchen items, outdoor furniture and fabrics. On the other hand, wardrobes and drawers, tables, chairs and stools without upholstery will be part of the program.
The first country to benefit from this initiative will be the United Kingdom from 24 November, and then expands to other 26 countries including Italy, Germany, France, Canada, Japan, Russia and Australia. However, the Buy Back program will not be available in the United States, as confirmed by the New York Times.
