Tom Cruise teams up with Elon Musk and NASA for the first ever movie shot in outer space

Tom Cruise will star in the first movie literally shot in space. It seemed impossible, but the news was confirmed with a tweet by a NASA administrator: the American actor, famous for the Mission Impossible saga as well as for his affiliation with Scientology, will be sent into Outer Space with all the crew for shooting his next sci-fi movie (that is not related to the Mission Impossible franchise), in collaboration with NASA and Elon Musk's private aerospace manufacturer SpaceX. 

Movies about Outer Space make one of the greatest traditions in cinema, but until today no one ever dared to shot in the Outer Space. Though, this is not the first time that Elon Musk pushes common boundaries: just think of that one time when he launched a Tesla into space or the name that he gave to his first child with Grimes (recently changed from X Æ A-12 to X Æ A-XII, in Roman numerals). At the same time, Tom Cruise is probably the bravest actor in Hollywood (to not say the weirdest): he's famous for rejecting any stunt on his action-movies, it doesn't matter if he has to hang up to a plane that is taking off at the speed of 300 km/h or to climb without protection the walls of Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Besides, back in 2013 he already tweeted about his interest in the vision of the Tesla's CEO.

The movie is still in pre-production, but it has already found a director: it is Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, Mr. & Mrs, Smith), who already teamed up with Cruise on the set of Edge of Tomorrow (they should also shoot a sequel) and American Made. Still, there is no news about the cast and when the production will start shooting. Updates to follow.
