IKEA has revealed the secret recipe of its legendary meatballs
How to cook the iconic meatballs at home (and the sauce, too)

Going to IKEA doesn't just mean that you need a new set of pencils. In the last 20 years, IKEA has become more like a playground, the ideal place to spend a Sunday with your family and have fun while doing some furniture shopping. In its establishments, every millennial child has fallen in love with the self-service restaurants (every child loves a self-service). In particular, there is a plate that already made history: the famous Swedish meatballs.
It's still unclear why they taste so good: it might be for the excessive amount of salt, or for the sauce or the blueberry jam with whom they're served, but for sure they are irresistible. To help us face this state of lockdown, the Dutch multinational has decided to gift their clients with a special revelation and unveiled the recipe (as well with the instructions to make them, as if they were a Billy bookcase). Including the recipe for the sauce.
We know that some people might be missing our meatballs, said IKEA’s Country Food Manager, Lorena Lourido. Which is why we’ve released an at-home alternative which, using easily accessible ingredients, will help those looking for some inspiration in the kitchen.
To be fair, the recipe released by IKEA is not the original one, whose secret ingredient still remains unknown (although, after the 2013 scandal, we know that is not horse meat), but is just a 'DIY' alternative to not miss them while the stores are closed. Well, for now, it's better than none.
