Digital Creatives of Colour to Know in Italy

As we mentioned earlier this year, Diversity and Inclusivity would be one of the major topics to dominate the fashion agenda in 2020. Fashion brands, agencies & magazines are all being held to the standards of diversifying their staff, target market as well as the international industry at large with the goal of working towards a more inclusive and culturally sensitive workplace.

All the major fashion cities have been making efforts and implementing measures to ensure that their local industries are all up to date.

Milan however, has admittedly been one of the slowest of its three fashion sister cities to evolve in this regards. The Italian fashion industry strives in inclusivity in front of the camera, with models of all sizes and races. However it is now time for the industry to reflect on itself and enforce these values on a deeper scale for creative industry personnel such as magazine editors, influencers, and creatives in general within fashion. This is not a change that will happen overnight , but a gesture that will require the support of all the major players within the industry.

This is why nss magazine’s editor-at-large Jordan Anderson has recently partnered with Camera Della Moda, All The Pretty Birds founder Tamu McPherson & Digital Strategist Tia Taylor in creation of an initiative to highlight the vast variety of Digital Creatives of Colour which exist in Italy and their individual experiences, which was commemorated with a celebratory cocktail last night at Camera Della Moda’s Fashion Hub at The Museo Della Permanente.

The event was in an effort to platform these undervalued creatives and provide an opportunity for them to directly network with insiders within the local industries.
