'Sneakerella', the streetwear reboot of Cinderella
Disney is reportedly working on a "sneaker version" of Cinderella
February 19th, 2020
According to The DisInsider (one of the most important websites when it comes to news from the Disney world), Disney is currently working on a reboot of Cinderella: Sneakerella, a new version of the long-time loved Classic that will be a retelling of the famous story in the setting of streetwear and sneaker culture.
Instead of The Lion King (2019), Aladdin (2019) or the upcoming Mulan (March 2020), this new version of the 12th Disney Classic will not be a simple remake of the original movie. On the contrary, Sneakerella (as one can tell from its title) will be a sort of "urban" revisiting of the homonymous tale by Charles Perrault: the fairytale of a contemporary Cinderella in a world where the real luxury is the New Luxury, where a pair of sneakers generates more hype than a glass slipper.
It's still unknown when the film will see the light. According to The DisInsider, Sneakerella will not have a theatrical distribution and it's supposed to stream on Disney+, not before 2021. Disney+ is available in the US from 2019, November 12 and it will be activated in Italy on 2020, March 24.
