Harrods could open a store in Milan
In the heart of the city
October 3rd, 2019
Economic growth and the real estate market in Milan are leading many brands to open flagship stores in the city. In addition to the now certain opening of Supreme in Corso Garibaldi, according to Milano Finanza, Assicurazioni Generali and the US fund Apollo Global Management have opened a dossier relating to a building in the city center, to be used for the construction of a new department store.
Among the options put forward in recent days is that the two groups are thinking of prominent names in the market, as well as tourist attractions, such as the Galeries Lafayette and Harrods, London's luxury warehouse.
The building is the one on the corner of Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Piazza Santa Radegonda, currently occupied by the Furla store, a property of the Apollo fund, while the one that houses The Space cinema is owned by Generali from 2018, after the purchase from Fininvest for 80 million euros.
With Harrods or Lafayette to find a serious competitor is La Rinascente, that Central Retail Corp - the Thai company that owns nine stores in Italy - has recently been listed.
