Here is the first trailer of Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix
In theaters from October 3
April 4th, 2019
During the CinemaCon in Las Vegas the first frames of Joker were unveiled, the new film directed by Todd Phillips on Batman's famous villain. After the unforgettable performances of Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger, it's the turn of the talented Joaquin Phoenix to give a face to the famous character, accompanied by a cast that includes Robert De Niro and Frances Conroy. The widespread trailer in these shows us excerpts from the life of Arthur Fleck, a failed stand up comedian of the 80s forced to recycle himself as an entertainer for the department stores that little by little, after a series of aggressions and humiliations, loses contact with reality and becomes the criminal clown that we all know.
In the images we see him taking care of his sick mother, declaring that his purpose in the world is to bring joy and laughter, to be beaten on the subway and run around Gotham City. These few fragments are enough to understand that the film will not only be sold out at the box office, but could be a masterpiece with an atmosphere similar to Taxi Driver and The king of comedy as Empire anticipates writing that "more a Martin Scorsese-inspired intense character drama than a typical comic book blockbuster".
To find out if the critics will be right we should wait until October 3rd. Meanwhile, let's enjoy the trailer.
