The writer of "House of Cards" enlists Sean Penn

Sean Penn debuts for the first time in a regular series.

The Oscar-winning actor is the protagonist of The First, the new Hulu show created by Beau Willimon, author of House of Cards. 

The show, which will be streamed from September 14, is set in the New Orleans of 2031 and follows the first human mission on Mars, also exploring the personal events of the various individuals involved, their families and the team remained on Earth.

In the cast, next to Penn, star also Natascha McElhone (Designated Survivor), Lisa Gay Hamilton (Chance), Hannah Ware (Boss), Keiko Agena (Gilmore Girls), Rey Lucas (Luke Cage), James Ransone (Mosaic), Anna Jacoby-Heron (Finding Carter), Brian Lee Franklin (Godless) and Oded Fehr (24: Legacy). 

The First is a co-production by British Channel 4 and seems to have costed almost $55 millions. Will it live up to the expectations?
