Call me by your name will have a sequel Here's what we know about the new chapter of the film directed by Luca Guadagnino

Maybe he will not have won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film, having to settle for a prize in the category Best Screenplay Not Original, but Call me by your name is undoubtedly the great revelation of the last film season.

The success has been so great that the film directed by Luca Guadagnino will have a sequel.

The confirmation comes directly from the Italian-Tunisian director, who, in an interview with USA Today, has indeed stated that he is already working on the new project.

Curiosity and hypothesis on the development of the film multiply.

Here is what we know (so far) on the new chapter in the film directed by Luca Guadagnino.

#1 In collaboration with...

Luca Guadagnino is developing the plot with André Aciman. the author of the novel on which the film is based.

#2 The protagonists

The protagonists will always be Oliver and Elio interpreted, once again, by Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet.

#3 Something will change

It will be a new film with "a different tone".

#4 Change of Time

It will take place five or six years after the original.

#5 When?

It will focus on the 90s.

#6 A trip

The film could have a road movie setting, with Elio and Oliver traveling all over the United States.

#7 In Cinemas...

The expected release date for Guadagnino could be 2020, the year in which Chalamet turns 25, the same age that his character would have in the sequel.

#8 "Once More"

Unlike the first film, the second will address the theme of AIDS. "I think it will be a very relevant part of the story," he told The Hollywood Reporter in January and added that the opening scene of the follow-up could be Elio watching the 1998 film by Paul Vecchiali Once More, who talks about a man who leaves his wife for another man and is the first French film to deal with AIDS.

#9 Marzia

Elio may not be gay and may reignite his relationship with Marzia. Guadagnino revealed in an interview with Screen Daily: " I don’t believe Elio is necessarily going to become a gay man. He hasn’t found his place yet. I can tell you that I believe that he would start an intense relationship with Marzia again".

#10 The music

Frank Ocean will be in the soundtrack? We still do not know if the star, great fan of CMBYN, will participate in the project, but, in any case, we expect high quality music.

On the other hand, Guadagnino has always had very special features in his previous films. Some artist? St Vincent for A Bigger Splash, Sufjan Stevens for Call Me By Your Name and Thom Yorke for Suspiria.
