Sabrina, the Teenage Witch debuts on Netflix with a dark reebot 21 years after the original version the ‘90s magical teenager returns

Do you remember Sabrina, the teenage witch of the ‘90s with two immortal aunts and a talking and sarcastic black cat named Salem?

Well, now the popular TV series is about to come back with a reebot.

The project, originally set up by the The CW network as a spin-off of Riverdale, has now moved to Netflix, which seems to have already ordered the creation of two seasons of 20 episodes each.

The new version of the show will have a much darker mood, inspired by occultism, more adhering to The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, the comic book series from which the original story is taken.

The atmosphere will be more like supernatural drama as Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist, explains the site specializes in news about the world of Hollywood deadline.com

“This adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit”.

The series will be produced by Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. TV and Aguirre-Sacasa and will be directed by Lee Toland Krieger, the latter two already working for Riverdale.

Why so many links to the Twin Peaks- styled teenage drama?

The answer is that both this and Sabrina are programs drawn from comics of the Archie universe and their protagonists cross each other inside the comics.
