"Heath was the alive human and if it wasn't on the
edge, it didn't interest him"
Ben Harper, his friend say that in the trailer.
Ben Harper says so talking about Heath Ledger in the trailer of "I Am Heath Ledger", a documentary about the actor's life directed by the director Derik Murray for the Spike TV channel.
It's been nine years since the Australian star has died at age 28 for a mix of medications prescribed regularly, shortly after playing the role of the Joker in "The Dark Knight", which earned him an Oscar posthumously.
"He wanted fame, and when he got it, he didn't want it", continues Matt Amato, director and friend of the boy, one of the many familiar voices like his sister Kate and friends like Naomi Watts, director Ang Lee or Trevor Di Carlo, telling her short life.
The documentary will also show some new material shot by the Ledger that he used to shoot short video diaries because as you hear in the trailer "He was always a director. The acting was just a way to get there".
"I Am Heath Ledger" will be presented at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23, it will then be released in theaters on May 3 and will air on Spike TV on the evening of Wednesday, May 17.
