Clarks' Wallabees are shoes with an unpredictable appeal. Until a few years ago, for example, their image in pop culture was deeply connected to Breaking Bad's Walter White, symbolizing their status as the definitive dad shoe. But dad shoes have enjoyed a new splendour, and a week ago Justin Bieber himself took a selfie wearing his own Wallabees. Clarks itself also seems to have understood the renewed appeal for the silhouette and has recently unveiled two new versions of the silhouette created in collaboration with GORE-TEX.
If the classic shape of the Wallabee has not been changed, it is the materials that have undergone an update. Wallabee's new models have a tome made up of suede overlays and contrasting leather, while the breathable GORE-TEX panelling modernizes the look with a texture with a techwear flavour and makes them more resistant to the elements. Clarks' new Wallabees will be available in two colourways, Olive Textile and Light Gray Textile, and will be complemented by classic leather tags and an extra accessory: two rolled-up technical strings that evoke the gorpcore aesthetic.
