For the first time in its history, Air France unveils its exclusive olfactory signature, named AF001. Designed in collaboration with Francis Kurkdjian, renowned perfumer and artistic director of Maison Francis Kurkdjian, this fragrance embodies the airline's commitment to promoting the excellence of French savoir-faire internationally. Available as an ambient scent, this olfactory signature will debut at the entrance of select Air France lounges at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), welcoming passengers into an elegant atmosphere from the start of their journey.

Francis Kurkdjian, a graduate of the International Higher Institute of Perfume in 1993 and Sup de Luxe Paris in 1994, gained fame by creating Le Mâle for Jean Paul Gaultier in 1995, an iconic fragrance that launched his career. Winner of the François Coty Prize in 2001, he was the first contemporary perfumer to establish a custom perfume workshop. In 2009, he co-founded Maison Francis Kurkdjian with Marc Chaya, an exceptional house acquired by LVMH in 2017, where he remains artistic director. In 2021, he was appointed Creative Director of Perfumes for Christian Dior, embodying the excellence and innovation of haute perfumery.

The name AF001 pays tribute to the company’s iconic Concorde flights, which connected Paris to New York in the late 1970s. Customers will have the privilege of discovering this fragrance in La Première spaces, including the first-class lounge and hall at CDG, as well as aboard La Première suites. It will also be diffused in the lounges of terminals 2E halls L and M, 2F, and 2G. Air France also plans to roll out this olfactory signature in its other lounges in Paris and internationally in the coming months. “The fragrance is very simple. There is a musky axis, I associated it with mimosa. And then, there are molecules derived from jasmine scents that are a bit enveloping, as if one’s face was being caressed by a breeze of flowers. The idea of the perfume for Air France and especially the lounge is to think ‘I feel good’ and with the perfume, ‘I feel even better,’” Francis Kurkdjian said about AF001 in a press release. “It is the illusion of a ray of sunshine on an airplane’s wings that inspired me to create this light, fresh, and comforting interior fragrance,” he added.

Fabien Pelous, SVP of Customer Experience at Air France, described, “The travel experience with Air France now enhances all five senses: sight, with the haute couture uniforms of our staff, our cabin interiors, and the refined design of our lounges; taste, with the delicious meals offered onboard; touch, with the soft fabrics of our seats; hearing, with our onboard playlists; and now smell, with this prestigious signature fragrance.” Air France's introduction of its exclusive fragrance, AF001, created by Francis Kurkdjian, marks an important milestone in the airline's commitment to enhancing the travel experience. This olfactory signature aims to evoke a sense of comfort and sophistication, enveloping passengers in a scented atmosphere that is both fresh and warm.
