The changes in creative directors are unstoppable and continue even during the early hours of the day. This morning, Loewe announced that Jonathan Anderson has left the maison’s atelier after eleven years, news that, while shocking, does not surprise the fashion industry. Rumors about Anderson possibly leaving the Spanish maison had been circulating for months, along with gossip suggesting that the creative director had already started working for Dior. «While reflecting on the last 11 years, I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by people with the imagination, the skills, the tenacity and the resourcefulness to find a way to say ‘Yes’ to all my wildly ambitious ideas. While my chapter draws to a close, Loewe’s story will continue for many years to come, and I will look on with pride, watching it continue to grow, the amazing Spanish brand I once called home», Anderson stated in a declaration released to WWD. Neither the brand nor the creative director have revealed plans for succession or Anderson’s next move. Additionally, since last December, he has joined the list of talents represented by the UTA management agency.

Jonathan Anderson’s impact at the helm of Loewe has been radical. The English designer was able to merge craftsmanship and pop culture in a simple and direct way through unique collections and campaigns. Irony and intellect were key elements of Anderson’s creations for Loewe. Thanks to his creativity and attention to the preservation of the brand’s historical heritage, he celebrated the maison’s tradition without cementing its image. Under Anderson, Loewe became one of the leading names in Parisian and international fashion through innovative yet accessible campaigns and collections, deeply connected to the world of cinema and contemporary culture. The designer established long-term collaborations with Studio Ghibli and the sports brand On, launched initiatives such as the Loewe Craft Prize, and formed partnerships with international stars like Daniel Craig, Ayo Edibiri, Josh O'Connor, Luca Guadagnino, Jeff Goldblum, Juergen Teller, Taylor Russell, Drew Starkey, Kylian Mbappé, Gillian Anderson, Greta Lee, Jamie Dornan, and many more. In 2024, Loewe became the most searched brand among consumers, according to Lyst’s report, surpassing even giants like Miu Miu and Prada.
