Miu Miu Literary Club returns to Milan Design Week for the second edition The brand will explore the themes of girlhood, love and sex education through literature

During Design Week, Milan transforms into a continuous flow of events, installations, and vernissages. Crowded streets, rushing from one appointment to another, an energy that envelops every corner of the city. But at the Circolo Filologico Milanese, time moves differently. Here, among books, performances, and conversations, the Miu Miu Literary Club returns, a project by the maison dedicated to rediscovering forgotten great women writers and reflecting on the role of female literature in today’s cultural landscape. Following the success of its first edition, “Writing Life,” the Miu Miu Literary Club 2025 shifts its focus to themes of girlhood, love, and sex education through two fundamental figures: Simone de Beauvoir and Fumiko Enchi. On April 9 and 10, the historic Circolo Filologico will host conversations and live performances, bringing together leading voices from publishing and culture to offer a fresh perspective on the works of these two authors. The full program will be unveiled soon, while registrations will open on April 3 on miumiu.com.

The previous edition marked the debut of the Miu Miu Literary Club with a series of discussions dedicated to Sibilla Aleramo and Alba de Céspedes. Among the most attended events, the debate moderated by Lou Stoppard, featuring Jhumpa Lahiri, Claudia Durastanti, and Sheila Heti, explored female diary writing through Forbidden Notebook, reflecting on how diaries have long been a tool of intimate and political expression for women. Zin Tsjeng, on the other hand, led the discussion on A Woman with Viola Di Grado, Selby Wynn Schwartz, and Xiaolu Guo, highlighting the role of female friendship as an act of resistance. Opening the discussions was Tina Kunakey. Beyond the talks, the two-day event transformed into an immersive experience of slam poetry, readings, and live music. Performances by Serena Braida and John Glacier provided moments of performative reflection, followed by live sets from Arlo Parks, Aziya, and Mathilde Fernandez, in an intimate, retro atmosphere filled with velvet sofas and stacks of books. With this new edition, the Miu Miu Literary Club reaffirms its identity as a vibrant cultural space, where female literature is not just about memory but a tool for reinterpreting the present.
