Jay Z replied to 'Lemonade'
With his remix of 'All The Way Up'
May 26th, 2016
If you have been waiting for Jay Z's reply to his wife Beyoncé's album-provocation, Lemonade, today is your day because the wait is over.
Yesterday the rapper released on TIDAL a remix for the track All The Way Up, Fat Joe and Remy Ma's big hit feat. French Montana, out last March 1st.
The remix is a successful return in the spotlight for Jay Z, but it also contains some veiled references to the most talked-about Beyoncé's album and other personal facts of the couple. The line “You know you made it when the fact / Your marriage made it is worth millions” maybe refers to the fact that his wife's album Lemonade, a TIDAL exclusive at first, brought 1.2 million new subscribers to the service in a week and it sold 200.000 copies on iTunes the first day. So, you can image how profitable this album was.
Jay Z continue saying “Lemonade is a popular drink and it still is” that, for malicious people, could sound like a jab to his wife and the drama she made for her album Lemonade. But other people can just consider it like a tribute to the Gang Starr's 1992 song DWYCK.
The rappers ends with “Prince left his masters where they safe and sound / We never gonna let the elevator take him down”. The line refers to Prince, found dead in an elevator recently, and his troubles with Warner Bros Records. However, it could be a reference to the well-known “elevator-gate”, the fight between Jay Z and Beyoncé's sister Solange Knowles spotted by a security camera in an elevator in May 2014 – the fact is also mentioned in a remix of Beyoncé's song Flawless.
Jabs or just coincidences? The choice is yours.
