# 1 Chic - Le Freak (1978)
It was the most commercially successful ever obtained from Atlantic Records, the label that published the single, and the Warner Music Group, until 1990, the year in which the record was beaten by Madonna's Vogue. In his biography Nile Rodgers has stated that the song was born New Year's Eve of 1977, when he and bassist Bernard Edwards were invited to Studio 54 by Grace Jones. The Jamaican artist did not feel the bouncers of the famous New York club, and the two remained at the door. Nile Rodgers tells that, in the original writing, reciting the refrain "Fuck off!" and not "Freak Out." It was published in 1978 and obtained a great success in Europe. To date, "Le Freak" is ranked number 19 of the list compiled by Billboard "All Time Top 100"
# 2 Nile Rodgers & Diana Ross - I'm Coming Out (1980)
In 1980 he produced the album Diana for Diana Ross, which is still the biggest selling album of Ross, containing the big hits Upside Down and I'm Coming Out. At the party of its 70 years, "the Diva" said that the meeting with Nile Rodgers changed his relationship with the common people. "I'm coming out" was written entirely by Nile Rodgers after discovering that Diana was an idol of the gay community. "I want the world to know, you have to understand it."
# 3 David Bowie - Let's Dance (1983)
Nile Rodgers has always described as one of his less tiring and more prolific in terms of sales. David Bowie contacted him telling him that he wanted a modern and timeless track for his new album, something that came from the future. The great success of the album surprises Bowie. The guitar blues-rock in contrast to the size dance created a new. There was nothing that sounded like Let's Dance at the time.
# 4 Madonna - Like a Virgin (1984)
Nile Rodgers has stated that they wrote "Like a Virgin" in 1983 and for an entire year sought the right artist to whom it engraved. They were contacted by numerous artists, but refused for the ambiguous text of the song. The song was then listened to a recording of the Warner who entrusted it to Madonna. Today, it is undoubtedly the most popular single of Madonna and Nile Rodgers has stated that: "Like A Virgin is a great pop album, because every single word of that song is a little gem. Why is it that the albums are becoming milestones of pop: beautiful from start to finish! "
