The French Touch invades Charles-de-Gaulle airport's roof

While the city of Paris is overwhelmed with the installations for the Olympic Games and will soon be flooded with tourists of all kinds present for the event, it is tempting for Parisians to get some fresh air and head towards Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport. If you can't afford a one-way ticket to Bora-Bora, you will still have the chance to experience something unique and free on the roof of Terminal 1 at the airport on Wednesday, July 17. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the airport is pulling out all the stops, and instead of having a simple birthday cake (way too classic), a techno party featuring the biggest stars of French electro, the cream of the French Touch, is planned. Air, Phoenix, Etienne de Crecy, Inès Mélia, Benjamin Diamond, Alan Braxe, and Izzy Lindquister are among the exceptional guests lined up for the event. For logistical reasons and to prevent the roof from collapsing (which would ruin the mood, that would be a shame), the event is limited to 2000 people. Here's how you can be one of the lucky ones.

Although Paris is full of rooftops and open-air parties of all kinds, nothing beats a good old home party to dance in peace. This was the thought of the ADP group (Paris-Orly and Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airports), organizer of the event, who decided there was no better place to celebrate the airport's 50th anniversary than the airport itself. The event will take place nearly 30 years after the birth of the French Touch, a musical movement internationally recognized as the French version of house music. The movement was born at the Palace (a cinema inaugurated in 1912 that transformed into a cabaret before becoming a nightclub), where the tracks of Laurent Garnier, Guillaume la Tortue, and David Guetta resonated until the early hours. But it was mainly Daft Punk who helped bring the movement to global fame with the release of their first single «The New Wave» in 1994. The heyday of the musical style seems to be behind us, but it remains very present and influential for new generations, including Gen Z, eternally nostalgic. The aforementioned Daft Punk track «Around the World», for example, was chosen as the entrance music for the Vogue World event held in Paris on June 23.

But let's get back to business, for the night owls who wish to join the dance floor on July 17, simply visit the DICE website where you can book tickets. For those less fortunate who cannot make it or arrived too late, it will be possible to follow the event on the Amazon Music World Twitch channel and on Amazon Prime. The event is free and open to everyone. «Passengers on planes on the runways will be able to see this concert, everything has been thought to ensure that the lighting system during the show does not disrupt air traffic», explains Bertrand Sirven, ADP Group's communications director. An aerial show, then, in addition to a concert. We just hope that the noise from the planes won't disturb the party, but we have no doubt that the atmosphere will be epic, in the air as well as on the ground.
