How was Travis Scott's concert on Fortnite?
The rapper has already unveiled a new line of merch inspired by the event
April 24th, 2020
Yesterday, after 1:00 AM in Italy, began the Fortnite Astronomical Tour - Travis Scott's live show series on Fortnite, with an in-game concert full of psychedelic animations during which the rapper revisited his greatest hits of the past and presented his new single in collaboration with Kid Cudi, entitled The Scotts. The single, already available on major streaming platforms, was unveiled at the end of the concert – also representing the culmination of the space-themed animation work that characterized the show. Travis Scott himself produced the single along with a team of major producers such as Daytrip, Dot da Genius, Plain Pat and Mike Dean. The cover art for the song was created by KAWS.
It would be fairer to call it a show rather than a concert: Travis's tracks were studio versions, not live, and those who expected to watch a real live show may have been disappointed. On the other hand, the level of spectacle, animation and experience offered to users exceeded the expectations of anyone who had even tried to imagine what the Astronomical Tour would be like. After landing at Sweaty Sands aboard an asteroid, Travis Scott transported users on a real intergalactic journey, also ensuring a certain amount of interactivity at the event, making it unique.
Shortly after the concert, Travis Scott also announced the release of a new merch line on his web store inspired by the aesthetics of the Fortnite Astronomical Tour consisting of a series of sweatshirts and T-shirts decorated with the branding of Cactus Jack and two hats. In addition to clothing, the merch also includes collectibles such as a replica of the NERF Elite Dart Blaster that shoots darts and a series of action figures that reproduce Travis Scott's various skins within the game. You can also buy editions of the new single The Scotts with KAWS cover art on CD, cassette and vinyl.
The new Fortnite Astronomical Tour date is now at four o'clock and three more dates will follow over the weekend. For all the information on how to attend the concert click here.
