The petition to digitalize the catalog of Lucio Battisti
nss supports Ciao-Discoteca Italiana's project
March 5th, 2019
There is something immortal in the music of Lucio Battisti. Something able to involve today as then, to enter the bones and soul of those who have lived his songs while he was a boy and who is a boy today, in full millennial era. The secret is perhaps in his language, so modern as to be timeless and to continue to inspire new generations of artists such as the Milanese duo Coma Cose who paid him homage in a song. It also sounds strange for this that the musician's catalog is not available in streaming, a means of fruition that has almost completely superseded the use of physical supports for listening to music. In fact, for years, Acqua Azzurra, the company registered to the wife and son of Lucio Battisti who manages the work, is strenuously opposed to the digitization of his work. The reason? It seems that the singer himself had declared admissible the dissemination of his art only and only on the means for which it was conceived (which obviously includes only analog supports). Even the Beatles have long been excluded from Spotify and co. for problems of subdivision of copyrights, but, in the end, they have found a satisfactory agreement and have become available for millions of users. Why not grant the same privilege to all those who want to crush play and enjoy Lucio's talent in the most practical and immediate way there is at the moment? When last year the collection Il Meglio Di Lucio Battisti was published for a few hours on Spotify and Deezer, the network cried out to the miracle even if it had to curb the enthusiasm after the songs were withdrawn because they lacked the necessary permissions. Pro streaming is also Giulio Rapetti, aka Mogol, co-author with Battisti of several songs that, commenting on the controversy about rights with his friend's heirs, said:
"I have had economic damage, but it is the young people and popular culture that are the most penalized".
If you also share his thoughts, from today there is one thing you can do: sign the petition for the digitization of the album by the singer from Rieti launched by Ciao-Discoteca Italiana in conjunction with the birthday of Lucio that would be March 5.
This is their statement:
"Torino, marzo 2018.
