5 moments from the last night of Sanremo you might have missed

Fifth night of the most boring and watched edition of the Festival

5 moments from the last night of Sanremo you might have missed Fifth night of the most boring and watched edition of the Festival

For 75 years, every edition of the Festival della Canzone Italiana has been remembered for some unique elements: the summer jingle, the tearjerker song (usually the winner), the public's criticism, and the discovery of a new "underdog" artist in music. But while new discoveries usually remain at the bottom of the final ranking, this year Lucio Corsi shone almost brighter than everyone else, nearly reaching the first place, which instead was won by the young Genoese artist Olly. Like every other night, the final episode of Sanremo 2025 was anything but exciting—if not for a few brief moments that managed to break the monotony orchestrated by Carlo Conti.

Here are 5 moments from the final night of Sanremo 2025 that you might have missed.

The "casualness" of Alessia Marcuzzi

Among last night's co-hosts were Alessandro Cattelan and Alessia Marcuzzi, two pillars of Italian television. While Cattelan delivered an impeccable—perhaps too much so—host performance, the real star of the final night of Sanremo 2025 was Marcuzzi, who shocked the audience with improbable remarks and unexpected humorous moments. Among them were the hug gag (the presenter entered saying «I need physical contact»), her comments on the competing songwriters («Always Blanco, he's so inspired when he writes, huh»), and on the outfits («I feel sick too, it's completely outlaw», she said about Rose Villain). Next to an annoyed Carlo Conti, Marcuzzi was the only one who managed to get a few puzzled smiles out of us.

Fru dances on stage with The Kolors

The ones who livened up last night's episode were The Kolors, with their final performance of Tu con chi fai l'amore at Sanremo 2025. During the final chorus of the song, the band invited Fru, comedian and member of The Jackal, who had been asking the competing artists for days if he could fulfill his lifelong dream of stepping onto the Ariston stage, to dance.

Angela from Ricchi e Poveri makes an appearance

We thought it was another of Alessia Marcuzzi's stunts, but then Angela from Ricchi e Poveri appeared: to the notes of Ma non tutta la vita, impersonator Brenda Lodigiani took the Ariston stage, distracting Carlo Conti in an outfit reminiscent of the ones Angela wore last year in the same theater. Lodigiani passed behind the host in a wild dance, quickly disappearing backstage. «It’s a prank by my friends from Gialappa's», commented Carlo Conti.

Lucio Corsi’s boot

Last night, Lucio Corsi dressed like a guitar, possibly using potato chip packets again to fill out the oversized shoulder pads of his outfit. But the detail that left everyone with a lump in their throat was the singer’s boots, which were captured on camera during his performance of Volevo essere un duro. The inscription Andy under one of the soles reminded the entire audience of the characters from Toy Story, making the artist's performance even more special.

The boos for the ranking

At Sanremo, the audience is always outraged by the final ranking. It's part of the Festival's tradition by now, and it's to be expected. However, this year the anger of the Ariston crowd was a bit louder than usual: when they discovered the placement of Achille Lauro and Giorgia, respectively seventh and sixth, chants and boos erupted, only to be silenced by a sharp «ssst» from Carlo Conti. When the Tim Award for Giorgia was announced, the singer took the stage visibly moved, and with the standing ovation from the audience, she broke into tears. «The greatest victory», the artist commented, thanking the fans. «I don't know if I deserve it»
