Elon Musk wants to implant millions of brain chips within 10 years
Benefactor or mad scientist?

The plans of Elon Musk for Neuralink, an American company founded by the entrepreneur and seven other scientists and engineers to develop implantable computers in the brain, are more ambitious than we could have expected. After successfully performing the first insertion of a computerized microchip into the brain of a human patient, who became able to control the mouse with his thoughts, Musk has launched into a race - against himself, it seems - towards the most absurd prospect. After Telepathy, a technology that enabled Noland Arbaugh, a thirty-year-old quadriplegic man, to use a computer with his mind, Blindsight was launched, which promises to cure blindness. In recent days, the owner of Neuralink, Tesla, and X made a rather shocking statement (as he usually does): «If all goes well, there will be hundreds of people with Neuralinks within a few years, maybe tens of thousands within 5 years, millions within 10 years.»
Redefining the boundaries of human capability requires pioneers.

With a claim that makes Elon Musk's professional intentions incredibly similar to those of Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, the mad scientist from the animated series Phineas and Ferb, Musk is embarking on a plan of action that leaves many perplexed. Many have raised various criticisms against Neuralink's technologies, including the possibility of hacking the computers used by the company - and consequently the people who have undergone the Telepathy operation - the concept of "selling the mind" to a tech giant, as well as a significant animal rights issue behind the invention (in four years of experiments on monkeys, Neuralink has caused the death of over 1500 specimens). On the other hand, of course, there remains the drive towards innovation, the aspiration of a man who wants to bring the human mind towards superintelligence and improve people's lives. It is not a power mania, no, it is technological advancement.
