Galerie Bête pays tribute to skate culture with Polaroid
Discover the invisible links that bind the skateboarding community together
June 11th, 2024
Whether we talk about skateboarding from a sporting, community, or countercultural perspective, the language and codes of skateboarding are non-verbal and transcend political and cultural boundaries like an invisible bonding force. Wherever you travel as a skater, your skateboard will always serve as a key to the city and its community. The exhibition L'Habitat, organized by Bête gallery in collaboration with Polaroid in various cities internationally, will take place on June 20, 2024 in Paris, offering a very intimate glimpse into the daily lives of professional skaters and their unconventional view of life. Many famous faces are featured, such as Paul Rodriguez, Eric Koston, Zion Wright, and many others. Find the list of photographers present below:
At the same time, skateboard culture is a sort of interdisciplinary playground for the most diverse forms of artistic expression. Thus, all the exceptional skaters in this project discovered their passion for photography through skateboarding. The spatial and social environment, domestic cultures, habits and restrictions, cuisine, climate, and many other things have a significant influence on how you skate and hang out. La galerie Bête celebrates this invisible bond that unites skaters from all corners of the world by dedicating a space to its cultural diversity - colorful and open-minded, a community characterized by individuality.
