Two new albums by Childish Gambino are on the way

This weekend saw what was probably one of the most boring editions of Coachella - despite the anticipation for the second weekend scheduled for April 19th to 21st. You could sense it even from the lineup confirmed months ago: among the most impactful names were Tyler, The Creator and Lana Del Rey, who have already performed in recent days, leaving the next attention of the audience focused on the awaited performance of Doja Cat. With notable absences like Kanye West and Frank Ocean, who had generated a lot of hype in past editions of the festival, everything was in Tyler's hands, one of the most glamorous and appreciated contemporary artists. But despite being an artist of immense caliber, it's really difficult to compare the excitement he can generate when compared to Kanye West or Frank Ocean. Tyler, then, decided to give his best to make the audience's experience memorable, and besides delivering an interactive show on the usual stage that contributes to making his performances breathtaking, he chose to perform the track RUNNING OUT OF TIME with Childish Gambino. Tyler, as usual, didn't hesitate to joke about how he used to hate the artist until he heard a song he liked. «I hated him. Really. I don't know why, I had to go to therapy to figure it out.»

Tyler, in fact, reopened the doors for Childish Gambino in the music scene: it's been over 4 years since his last album, 3.15.20, and even 7 since "Awaken, My Love!", a project that definitively established him as an artist, in addition to showcasing his versatility with masterful falsettos in Redbone and Zombies. Since the release of 3.15.20, coinciding with the pandemic period, Childish Gambino has focused on his film career. Donald Glover - his birth name - in 2023 took on the roles of voice actor, screenwriter, director, actor, and producer in Sciame and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, two projects that further solidified his fame gained through Atlanta, which officially concluded in 2022 after 8 seasons. But it's time to return to making music: he announced this on Sunday, April 14th, hosting an Instagram livestream on Gilga Radio. During the stream, he premiered a song called Human Sacrifice, revealing that two more projects were on the way: «I'll be releasing Atavista soon, and then the final Childish Gambino album - a soundtrack for the fans.» Later in the broadcast, he previewed the original soundtrack of Bando Stone & The New World, declaring that it will be his last album under the name Childish Gambino.
