What to expect from GTA VI

More than 10 years after the release of GTA V, Rockstar, the company that develops and distributes video games, has finally unveiled the trailer for GTA VI. The release was scheduled for Tuesday the 7th, but following a leak of the full video on X by an anonymous account on Monday evening, Rockstar had to move the release to the evening of the 6th. Despite the game company not being able to stick to its release plan, the trailer, published on YouTube, has achieved incredible success: it garnered 90 million views in one day, setting the world record for the most-viewed video on YouTube within 24 hours (excluding those in the music category). Many were eagerly awaiting the trailer to learn the definitive release date, which has not been revealed yet. The video concludes with the phrase «Coming 2025», suggesting that future trailers may precisely reveal the release day. Only the most imaginative have started delving into the analysis of hidden easter eggs: the video opens with an ultralight aircraft towing a banner that reads «Why Sixty Nine When You Can Nine 1 Nine?»: the "Nine 1 Nine," i.e., September 9, could refer to the game's release date. The trailer also confirmed the presence of the first female protagonist in the Grand Theft Auto saga, Lucia, yet it's not entirely clear what the storyline involving the woman and Jason will be. What matters is that after years of anticipation, we now have material to fantasize about the new Rockstar chapter.

Map, Storyline, and Setting

The map and storyline are two of the most important aspects of the chapter (and games in general); however, the trailer has only resolved a few doubts. Regarding the storyline, as mentioned earlier, the protagonists will be Lucia and Jason, a couple of robbers. This confirms theories that suggested that Bonnie & Clyde would have inspired the protagonist couple. Some snippets of the trailer show how Lucia spent time in prison; we will likely discover the developments of the story and further information about Jason with the release of new trailers. Official information about the map's dimensions is scarce: it's impossible to determine them solely from a one-and-a-half-minute trailer. However, there are already many leaks seemingly confirming that the map's dimensions should be those shared over a year ago by a user on Reddit. There are no doubts, however, about the setting: the location for GTA 6 is Leonida, a fictional version of Florida. Players will be able to explore every square kilometer of the state, up to the Keys, an archipelago located in the southeastern United States: this means that players can relive Vice City from GTA Vice City, 23 years later.

New Radio Stations

When it comes to Grand Theft Auto, it's almost impossible to overlook the musical aspect. The tracks in the game aim to make the gaming experience completely immersive, in addition to being an incredible placement for the artists themselves. Most of the tracks in GTA San Andreas are still remembered today: It Was A Good Day by Ice Cube, Hold the Line by TOTO, Young Turks by Rod Stewart; just as we have engraved in our minds Blonded Radio curated by Frank Ocean in GTA V. From the GTA VI trailer, it emerges that Rockstar has no intention of losing its musical identity, a perfect mix of r&B, rock, rap, and more. The trailer's soundtrack is Love Is A Long Road by rock artist Tom Petty, but it's reasonable to expect that the game will feature a much more contemporary music selection, without abandoning the rock and roll legacy.

Trivia, Speculations, and Hopes

The scenes from the trailer have significantly increased the hype of the gaming audience, thanks to small details that can make a difference in the completeness of the game. In some excerpts from the trailer, it is noted that within the game, players will encounter new animals, such as alligators, for example. Moreover, it seems that social networks will play an important role, resembling the full-screen layout of TikTok and Instagram. Additionally, one of the most significant rumors that has been circulating for a while concerns the fact that players will be able to enter most buildings within the map, an addition that would greatly enrich the user experience. However, a speculation regarding the available cars in the game already seems to be debunked: this chapter will not have the license to include authentic brands and models of cars. As always, the cars will faithfully reproduce the silhouettes of the most famous supercars in history, without displaying official logos.
