5 things to do in Paris this weekend From 10 to 13 November

Paris Photo 2023 is taking centre stage this weekend. Bringing together more than 180 international galleries, the Grand Palais Éphémère will be alive with photographic and creative voices. But the event is not limited to the Palais. The city will be hosting events and vernissages, so all you have to do is wander around to find an open gallery that catches your eye. On the other hand, there are still some great art exhibitions to see, including a fashion retrospective, as well as restaurants to try, just follow the orange wine and the smell of truffles.

Where to eat - Le Chardon

Located in the 10th arrondissement, in the heart of the theatre district, you'll find a 100% French bistro with a  contemporary twist. The mid-century modern decor, light woods and banquettes, punctuated by convivial tables and sparse wall decor, give a convivial feel. Best of all, the restaurant is 100% seasonal. The fruit and vegetables are harvested from their own kitchen garden, just an hour from Paris. What's on the menu? A selection of small plates to share at reasonable prices, such as sea bass tartare with ginger and apples, crispy arancini with blue cheese and lemon, or poached egg with chorizo cream. All for less than 12 euros. For larger dishes, we suggest the creamy mushroom risotto with truffle cream and lots of Parmesan. Le Chardon's extensive wine list is also worth a try. A selection of red, white and orange wines is available, everything you need for a great evening out with friends.

What to discover - Mémoire d'une élégante

From 6 to 25 November, head to the 16th arrondissement for a free retrospective that will take you behind the scenes of the golden age of Parisian haute couture, from 1920 to 1970. The "Mémoire d'une élégante" exhibition pays tribute to Françoise, a highly respected saleswoman who worked for Lanvin and Chanel for four decades. Her knowledge and business acumen made her an integral part of the luxury houses, her expertise bringing her an international clientele. Visitors will be able to discover a selection of vintage photographs, jewellery, as well as designer evening dresses and accessories. It's a chance to step back in time to an era when the art of fashion in all its forms was at a very high level, thanks to the wardrobe of an elegant, well-educated woman.

Where to chill - Paris Photo 2023

Every year since 1997, the city has welcomed photography enthusiasts from all over the world to discover the best contemporary images. Bringing together some 80,000 guests and 191 exhibitors, the international art fair is the ideal place to spend a weekend and get lost for a while. Taking place in the halls of the Grand Palais Éphémère, just a stone's throw from the Eiffel Tower, the 26th edition of Paris Photo offers, in addition to its many exhibitions, prizes, book signings, conferences and meetings with publishers. New this year, 9 galleries will be devoted to the digital arts. At a time when everyone is talking about AI and wondering whether it can be considered a tool for artists, the fair will be offering a section dedicated to autogenerated works, which is sure to cause a stir and spark conversations. Outside the Palais, numerous events will be taking place throughout the weekend, all in honour of this art market.

Located on a discreet corner of the 1st arrondissement, you'll find a jungle-themed nightclub ideal for dancing the night away. Take the stairs down to the dance floor and let yourself be transported into an atmosphere alive with Afro beats, rap and the occasional nostalgic 90s sound. Run by entrepreneur Bryan Birget, known for producing some of the city's liveliest parties, the club does what nightclubs are supposed to do best: serve strong cocktails and play good music.
