Freeda's new docu-series chronicling rehab without prejudice
It's called “R-esistenze” and it was shot inside the famous San Patrignano Community
April 15th, 2022
In 2022, drug addiction still remains a stigma for many, both because of a lack of normalization of the public debate on drugs and addiction, and because of the taboo surrounding the idea of communities and rehabilitation pathways. In order to fight these prejudices and finally open a dialogue between the public and those who are facing a path of rehabilitation, Freeda has produced a new docu-series of five episodes entitled R-Esistenze | Stories from San Patrignano, to be released on April 19th. The docu-series, entirely conceived and produced by Freeda, aims to bring to the general public the voices of five of the residents of the Community of San Patrignano, the largest of its kind in Europe. Freeda's editorial director, Sara Ristori, explained:
«To stimulate the debate around the theme of drug addiction without judgments and without preconceptions is the aim of Resistenze, in coherence with Freeda's approach to the dearest and most useful themes for the new generations. The documentary wants to remain adherent to reality, proposing stories of life lived in a disintermediated way. For this reason, the girls and boys guests of the Community of San Patrignano tell their stories in first person through 5 episodes and 6 protagonists».
The story will therefore unfold in a way without filters, bringing the audience into direct contact with the stories of Natalie, Nadia, Alessandra, Michele, Sofia and Luciano. The architecture of San Patrignano, where the docu-series was shot over the course of four months, is the background not only to the images of the series but also to the path of rebirth of all six of its protagonists. During the filming, among other things, the Freeda team followed and documented the activities of the structure's guests, in particular the professional workshops where the residents follow the Community's training courses. The result is a choral fresco that speaks not only of the fight against drug addiction but also of the problems, aspirations and dark sides of a new generation.
