Apple has assigned its Music Awards
Lil Baby and Megan Thee Stallion among the winners
November 19th, 2020
After last year, even in this troubled 2020 Apple wanted to assign its Music Awards to reward the most deserving artists of this musical year. An award that combines not only the editorial opinions of Apple Music, but also the tastes and preferences shown by the public through the Made in Cupertino music streaming platform. The winners of the Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Breakthrough Artist of the Year awards were chosen by Apple Music's team of experts, while the Top Song of the Year and Top Album of the Year awards were used by streaming service data.
The festivities kicked off on December 14 with a weekend of concerts, interviews, and special content streaming on Apple Music, Apple Music TV and Apple TV. Celebrations that then led to the real event, the winners. Taking home the most coveted Artist of the Year award was Lil Baby, who with My Turn and The Bigger Picture became the absolute protagonist of the year. Megan Thee Stallion instead went to the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award, a title deserved thanks to the enormous commercial success of WAP together with Cardi B.
Taylor Swift is the Songwriter of the Year thanks to her latest album, written and recorded by the American singer-songwriter in solitary confinement during the first months of the pandemic. Two prizes instead for Roddy Rich, who won Top Song of the Year for The Box and Top Album of the Year for Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial.
