June 28th, 2016
If you are tired of yellow DHL t-shirts and Champion hoodies, you can stop yawing because Vetements has big news for its SS17 collection, which will be unveiled on Sunday, July 4.
For next season, the most awaited show of Paris fashion week will mix together 16 clothing companies for the realisation of the new collection.
Demna Gvasalia revealed it during an interview with Cathy Horyn: the idea is to work directly with manufactures who are specialised in clothing categories (like jeans, t-shirt, bomber, etc...) and, to achieve this, his team is collaborating with brands chosen for this collection-experiment. The fashion designer also added: "We really thought about each garment; what is the first brand that comes to mind when we think about, for example, workwear pants? So we went to Carhartt”.
The brands will receive the “Vetements Treatment” obviously, meaning that their pieces will be deconstructed, mixed together and interpreted according to the rules of Gvasalia's team. So, get ready to see very elegant evening dresses by Juicy Couture and Manolo Blahnik shoes destroyed.
