ACK Beachwear

Blonde, athletic, her face is well known by Instagram's audience and fashion insiders. Since June 2015, Rebecca Larsson is part of Grazia.it’s it-girls network, as well as being the Head of Style of our favourite sunglasses brand of the moment: Retrosuperfuture.

What only few people know, however, is that this beautiful girl with a Nordic charm – she’s half Swedish – is also the founder of a swimwear brand, ACK, that she hopes she'll be wearing full time when she'll finally move "to a place where it’s Summer all year round".

She tells us about it in this interview:

#1 Your brand is called ACK. Is it an acronym for something?

ACK is a Swedish exclamatory word that is used to emphasise the lack of something. I was in Sweden while the project was being born, and I heard my grandmother say the word and fell in love with it. I liked the strong and decisive sound, pronounceable by all, and the fact that it was made up of three letters. In addition, this project was born because I thought that the market lacked an independent Italian brand which proposed an interesting product, but also wearable by different types of women.

#2 You are (also) an eyewear designer. How do you manage to do both things at the same time?

They are two very different things, but often used in the same context. My dream is to live in a place where it’s Summer all year round, and I will not need much else apart from a pair of sunglasses and a bathing suit.

#3 You grew up in Viareggio but you have Swedish origins. Which of the two countries do you feel more akin to? A Swedish woman designing bathing suits (and sunglasses) almost sounds like an oxymoron.

I feel 50 and 50. My Italian-Swedish roots have allowed me to have two culturally different points of view, to have that extra oomph that made me see things differently. My Italian side makes me passionate and refined, while the Swedish one rational and minimal.

#4 ACK’s models have a strong sport connotation. Which role does sport play in your life?

I am a very competitive person, especially with myself, and sport has always been a way to prove myself. I like to practice yoga as functional training, the key thing is the intensity of the exercises and the well-being they give me. Then I have a passion for sports and protective clothing, which often influence some details and cuts of ACK’s collections.

#5 Where will you wear your swimsuits this Summer?

I'll be often at home in Tuscany and in Marbella, where my parents have opened a restaurant. I’ve also scheduled a girlfriends’ vacation in Ibiza in August, and I hope to plan something even with my husband, as soon as we’ll be a bit less busy with work.
