The Genealogy of Mercurial

In recent years a new trend has emerged in the footwear world: the dualism between football boots and sneakers is more and more consolidated.
Football has never been exactly the creative engine for the design and construction of lifestyle sneakers. For a long time football kicks have inspired other sneakers from a purely technical point of view, with the aim of increasing their performance and other factors as stability and support, but not their aesthetics.
Times are changing, however, and recently we have noticed the influence of the traditional football boots on the sneaker design, and vice versa: beginning with the Tiempo, and continuing with the creation of the Flyknit Free Mercurial Superfly, today there are an incredible number of sport-inspired sneakers revisited for every day life, suitable to satisfy not only sneakerheads, but also footballers.
This new trend was born not only for the need to satisfy fans, but also the passion for sneakers expressed by several players of international fame, such as Kyle Walker – star of Nike FC FW15 campaign – Neymar, Materazzi and Cristiano Ronaldo, all great Nike champions.
No competition. The core is always only one: the passion for sneakers, speed and movement.
In conjunction with The Science of Speed, the space set up by Nike in Via Vigevano 18 Milan from May 26 to 28 May, on Thursday May 26 One Block Down will inaugurate Genealogy of Mercurial, a gallery that celebrates an ever-moving culture, made of creativity that unites players and fans.
