Petra Collins walked for Gucci
FW16 show
February 24th, 2016
Alessandro Michele’s revolution on Gucci’s runway hasn’t stopped to the change of location and of the image of the whole brand. After having brought on the runway trans model Hari Nef during his men’s FW16 show last January, today it was Petra Collins’ turn.
The Canadian photographer, known for her staunch feminism and the realist and girl friendly style of her shots, has walked her very first runway wearing a damasked suit, sealed by a macro bow adorned by sequins of the same colour.
“It all happened pretty quickly” Collins told Vogue.com, “Gucci contacted my agents, and I’ve flown to Milan to meet the casting director”. About her runway look, she says: “It’s floral, baroque, something that Bowie would wear as Ziggy Stardust. And I have these amazing earrings—green diamond peace signs. I like to wear big earrings because I have big hair”.
Petra is part of the new crowd of young international artists Michele has involved to embody the new spirit of the brand, expressed by androgynous boys and girls with a Renaissance charm.
