Is Anthony Vaccarello replacing Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent?
Will Donatella Versace agree?
January 13th, 2016
There’s a lot of mistery surrounding Hedi Slimane’s figure and Saint Laurent’s future recently. Only a few days ago the French house turned down the rumours which saw the designer about to leave his position and today the name of the person who could actually become his successor emerged concretely. Against any expectation, it’s Anthony Vaccarello, Donatella Versace’s protegé and creative director of her brand’s second line, Versus Versace.
While his domination at Saint Laurent teeters, Hedi released these days some details concerning his next presentation for the brand. The men’s show will not be held in Paris as usual but in Los Angeles, his creative base and primary and constant source of inspiration.
The chosen location is not casual. The androgynous creatures of his latest collections will walk on the stage of one of the most famous concert halls of the Californian city, the Palladium, confirming Slimane’s endless love for the music universe and its protagonists.
While his name gradually takes distance from the one of Saint Laurent, we start wondering about the future of his career in the fashion system. Will Hedi take over the creative direction of another important brand or will he start dealing full time with his (other) biggest passion, rock music?
