Rankin presents Less is More
A new photo exhibition in Germany
December 15th, 2015
Rankin has just opened a new photo exhibition in Germany, at the Kunsthalle in Rostock. Less is More – that’s the title of the show – gathers his most iconic works, from the beginnings at Dazed & Confused, the magazine he founded along with Jefferson Hack in 1991, to the numerous campaigns and fashion editorials he realized for the most prestigious magazines worldwide.
The itinerary skilfully conveys the provocation (and the irony) which has always marked the images of the British photographer, with a focus on the celebrities who posed in front of his lens over the years.
“I really believe in photography that makes you think as well as feel something. Less is More is the first time I’ve brought my more conceptual work together. It does what it says on the tin: showing fewer pieces that have more meaning to me” he explains.
The show aims to evoke strong emotions, with no half measures. Exactly like Rankin’s style: you love it or hate it at first sight.
Less is More curated by Ulrich Ptak, until February 28, 2016 at Rostock Art Gallery - Hamburger Str. 40, 18069 Rostock, Germany.
