Il nuovo vocabolario della moda italiana
@ Triennale di Milano
November 23rd, 2015
It opens tomorrow at the Triennale Museum in Milan Il nuovo vocabolario della moda italiana, an exhibition which aims to explore the new frontiers of the fashion Made in Italy, represented by the brands and the creative personalities which have redefined the fashion landscape of the nation during the past 20 years.
Protagonists that the curators – Paola Bertola and Vittorio Linfante – have refused to define as “emerging talents”: “It’s a limiting label, a cage that doesn’t allow these young people to grow and actually emerge” says Bertola.
The show is described as a vocabulary as it synthesizes, illustrates and defines the main characteristics of the Made in Italy nowadays, crystallizing its language in constant evolution. To respect the typical structure of a volume the itinerary is composed by eight distinct chapters: archetype, construction, detail, laboratory, substance, ornament, surface and uniform. Each of them investigates and illustrates a part of the creative process of the items, giving an unprecedented and genuine look to something normally known only by the industry’s insiders.
This concept of broadening the confines of the fashion universe is the most significant part of the project: allowing a varied public – like the one of the Triennale Museum – to become aware of fresh names and designs, normally familiar only to the élite of the fashion insiders.
An appointment that Elio Fiorucci would have liked, too: he’s the one the exhibition is dedicated to. Not, as the responsible of the fashion sector of the Museum Eleonora Fiorani explains, as a simple memory: “But because these guys represent a kind of Elio 2.0 and embody what the designer has done and professed during his whole career”.
