Givenchy opens its show to the public
September 1st, 2015
If you thought fashion shows were just a prerogative of some lucky few, Givenchy is ready to make you change your mind. The historic French house headed by Riccardo Tisci released today a news which made an uproar worldwide.
The next Givenchy show, which will be held on September 11st during New York fashion week following the opening of the new store of the brand in the Big Apple, will be open to the public. You understood well: there will be more than 800 tickets available online to participate, you will just have to be quick with your mouse to catch them on nycgo.com before it’s too late.
Givenchy’s choice follows up a tendency now consolidated in the fashion system: the democratization of fashion through the social networks. Thanks to instagram, facebook or snapchat, everyone can potentially assist to a show live, but this is the first time a designer invites us on the location of the show, without the filters determined by the media.
We are sure some habitués of the front rows will turn up their noses, but the event remains revolutionary and with no doubts in line with the times.
