Madonna Strikes a Pose for Versace
December 4th, 2014
Madonna is the new face of Versace. A new album, a release, a bondage-style editorial on the latest issue of Interview, the queen of pop is back to lend her face and body to the Italian fashion house.
For Miss Ciccone this is the fourth time as protagonist, the first, in fact, dates back to 1995 with the photographer Steven Meisel, followed, for the other three campaigns, by Mario Testino."Madonna is one of the true icons of Versace." Says Donatella Versace explaining her choice, "I'm excited to have her as the face for spring-esate 2015. It is not only a dear friend but also the artist and symbol stronger today" and continues " She is her own woman, a role model who shows other women how we can do what we want, and get what we want, and do so for all of our lives, with no compromise."
On the set, during the photo shoot, the star asked her friend Donatella which character wants interpreters and Ms Versace replied: "I want you to be Madonna and yourself."
And she does. Reads herself.
In the images in black and white made by the couple Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott wrapped in a leather mini dress with laser cuts, it appears, as always, provocative and fascinating, with lean physique and sculpted by hard training.
At 56, 30 career, the artist remains an icon, unrepentant and changeable.
