Cara Delevingne and Pharrell sing duet for Chanel film
Reincarnation
November 24th, 2014
Chanel presents "Reincarnation".
After the beautiful video of few weeks ago with Gisele Bunchen, the maison returns with a new short dream.
This time the director is no longer Baz Luhrmann, but Karl Lagerfeld himself.
The eclectic German genius transforms Pharrell Williams and Cara Delevingne in the Austria's emperors, Franz Joseph I and his wife Sissi, protagonists of a romantic interpretation of the history behind the birth of Chanel jacket.
Legend has it that during a vacation at a Austrian resort Miss Coco was enchanted by the operator of the lift's uniform, inpiring by the man?s clothes to realize her cult piece.
But Reincarnation is another story.
It 's a fairy tale with a touch of pop art as Lagerfeld himself explains: " It's not meant to be a historical reconstruction or something heavy like that. This is light and funny."
In the video preview released today by the site WWD, the unusual couple Delevingne-Williams dances a waltz along to the tune of "CC the World", a song written for the occasion by the star of "Happy" in which also appears in the voice of model.
In those few fragments is all the talent of Kaiser Karl and his extraordinary ability to turn into magic and glamor everything it touches. The details, as usual, are manic: the reproduction of a painting by Franz Xavier Winterhalter depicting the imperial couple, the camellias in the hair of Cara, the clothes, even the title of the soundtrack with the similarity between CC and Sissi.
And this is just a premiere.
Who knows what the reserve seven minutes of the entire film? Rumors speak of reconstruction, in the Paris studios of Luc Besson, a hunting house with furniture of horns and a cast of more than 60 extras including Baptiste Giabiconi, Heidi Mount, Lady Amanda Harlech and Caroline Lebar.
The short film will be seen entirely December 1, one day before the Chanel-Salzburg show.
