The world of Rick Owens

After the relaxing summer, the London’s Selfridges needs to dim the falltime sadness with some huge innovations; this year it has called togheter an army made by 12 designers, presented as “The Masters”.  Between them there’s Rick Owens, whose labes has reached 20 years, delegated as Master of Elements, because of his skills whit proportions and volume.

Capacity used not only with his pieces, but also with the space that the company has given to him: 4 prominent windows and a complete and expressive concept store on the ground floor. Do you think it is enough ? Not yet, the designer has commissioned a 25-foot statue, with other sculptures, such as a side view of a torso made from steel, realized by Doug Jennings, Rick Owens’ faithful collaborator.

After the sculpture that has amazed and enthused the fashion world,  representing mr. Owens urinating on to a mirror, at Pitti Uomo in 2006, the Selfridges Company, the whole world and Rick Ownes himself expect something striking, that makes people forget their happy summer memories.

The concept store will hold 20 pieces of his mainline and of DRKSHDW, including also different trans-seasonal pieces; from t-shirts to leather jacket, to his iconic footwear, with prices that goes to £30 from £2000; it will stay opened until the end of October 2014. Over Ownes’ pieces, Selfridges will sell designer’s gadgets, such as book and autobiographies. October arrives quickly, will we prepare now our baggage to London ?
