Yii is the stage name of the Malaysian designer Alan Ooi . After starting out as a hair stylist, driven by the death of his father , the young artist decides to make a change in his life and enrolled at Raffles Design Institute.
So begins the story of Yii, now arrived at the spring-summer 2014 collection, entitled "Tomie and the Smoking Fish" . The inspiration comes from the manga by Junji Ito , a master of horror comics, by those nightmares that continue to haunt you even awake, filling days with visions and hallucinations, like a daydream. It s' a collection rooted in childhood memories of the designer, where prints, colorful and dreamlike, are its funny, imaginative and playful side. Thanks to them, the young Malaysian recollections classic menswear tailoring, while retaining the simplicity and clean cuts.
Yii comes into the fashion world one step at a time, in search of a style that makes him unique.
