Nike Air Mag "Back to the future"
Release coming in 2015
February 17th, 2014
Yes, it's all true! We have been dreaming of it for ages and now we may finally find in store that fantastic pair of shoes worn by Marty McFly in "Back to the Future Part II". The rumors about a Nike official release are more and more insisting, and the date is of course 2015, the same year indicated by the movie.
The design of the shoe is basically the same as the Nike Air Mag, with that particular characteristic that made them super special leaving us amazed every time we watched the film: the power laces, which should become a reality soon, according to the statement of Nike's head designer Tinker Hatfield:
"Are we going to see automatic laces in 2015? I say YES to this!"
The futuristic touch? a series of LEDs arranged on the sole side and on the strings, lasting for 5 hours and with a mini operating system that governs the shoes.
The Nike Air Mag had already been anticipated during the previous months from the famous auction on eBay, it was of course a limited edition, to be precise 1500 pairs at the price of 37,000$. A project that served to raise funds for the Michael J. Fox Foundation, an association which aims to find a cure for Parkinson, of which the actor has been affected since 1991.
The models are supposed to be two: the first without lights and Power Laces which will be on sale at Foot Locker, and a second model complete with all the features from the original pair, including the Power Lacing system that Nike has already patented, distributed in carefully selected stores.
2015 could indeed become the year of the future, because with the new Nike air Mag nothing will be impossible anymore.
