Wali Mohammed Barrech has just graduated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp . Croatian – Pakistan born designer, but the Danish adoptive , debuts with a SS14 collection inspired by the social , especially by the world of workers, by the fact that they are supervised and often wear uniform. The young designer brings on the catwalk a line that because of clothing’s form, choice of colors, details and atmosphere recalls a psychiatric clinic, highlighting the fact that for him to be a worker is a state of mind more than a profession.
Models wear surgical masks on the face , wear clothes reminding lab coats made of denim and Japanese style sandals. The silhouettes are squared , the clean cuts . The severity given by the color sugar paper , by cream and gray is broken by splashes of bright red that give character to a collection seemingly flat.
In this way Barrech realizes successfully his attempt to dress up the standardization that, too often, hiding behind the word " worker".
