Cubist inspired
November 28th, 2013
The relationship between fashion and art is a ancestral, visceral love, which renews itself continuously. No wonder, then, that Beth Postle, a student of Central Saint Martins, choose to hand paint portraits of Cubist-inspired clothes on her debut collection.
If Picasso is the most obvious reference, the black - framed paintings prints is a tribute to the works of the sculptor Niki de Saint Phalle. The entire collection has a strong connection with art, but also with the Russian tradition . In fact the costumes of the '20s the Soviet are the model for shapes and silhouettes. Proportions and cuts are dramatic , exaggerated , revolutionizing the traditional sportswear.
Beth Postle , younger sister Jenny Postle , half of the brand Leutton Postle, wants to create a menswear who dares more, taking example from the female one, becoming more creative and extreme , and thanks to her garments seems to have succeeded .
