Miuniku FW 2013 Collection
Mundane Things
October 4th, 2013
Tina and Nikita Sutradhar are two Indian sisters who, after having moved to London to study at the College of fashion, decided to found their label in the English capital Miuniku, a term created by the merger of parts of their two names.
Their style is a constant interplay between clean lines and graphic details, minimalism and ostentation. Looking for a balance between simplicity and sophistication, these two girls in their early twenties came to their second collection "Mundane Things." The inspiration for this winter proposal are those things we do every day such as washing dishes, cook, do laundry, all in an almost mechanical way, without thinking. Each of these actions is part of a daily routine, boring, repetitive and predictable, which the designers want to bring back our attention, to make us regain possession of our life, in every aspect, even seemingly trivial.
On an aesthetic level these suggestions are reflected in a series of garments made of different fabrics, jersey, wool, silk, organza and vibrant colors, pointing to the graphic of the packaging of detergents. The volumes are over and the lines clean and precise, as foldings that are made by ironing the shirts. The life of every day goes into fashion, in an attempt to prove that everything, even the most trivial, it can be mundane, even glamorous.
