Focus on D'heygere, the jewellery brand that makes you wear your lighter around your neck
D'heygere blurs the boundaries between accessories and everyday objects, transforming the ordinary into objects of desire
March 19th, 2025
If her name doesn't ring a bell yet, her creations have certainly caught your eye. From Jacquemus to Diesel, Jean Paul Gaultier, and the late label Y/Project, Stéphanie D’heygere has been shaping distinctive accessories behind the scenes while establishing her own universe with her eponymous brand, founded in 2018. That year was a turning point, as she won the ANDAM Accessories Prize, gaining recognition from an industry captivated by her unconventional world—one that remains deeply connected to everyday life. In 2023, D’heygere also became the winner of the French Ministry of Culture’s Fashion Call for Projects, an award that transcends fashion by honoring brands that contribute to France’s global influence. It has been a meteoric rise for the Belgian-born artistic director, whose imagination seems far from reaching its limits.
During Paris Fashion Week, D’heygere opens the doors to her new showroom to unveil her AW25 collection. A full immersion into a girly universe where three teenage girls come to life through images by artist-photographer Noémie Ninot. In this modern boudoir, bows—symbols of ultimate adolescent femininity—are scattered everywhere, adorning headbands, while fake nails transform into earrings. Nostalgic, the spring-summer collection reinvents another iconic piece of jewelry: the charm bracelet, this time reinterpreted in collaboration with Vaquera. Gone are the kitschy trinkets once proudly dangling from wrists; instead, they are replaced with everyday essentials we desperately search for in our bags—lighters, cigarette cases, or simple hair clips. A tribute to these small yet indispensable objects, proving that the designer’s creativity thrives where it is least expected.
This ability to elevate the ordinary is also reflected in the Manifesto on her website, dedicated to such experiments. Nothing escapes her vision: a mushroom turned into a ring, slices of bread transformed into visors, a roll of tape reimagined as a bracelet, or even a fabric napkin reinvented as a headpiece. A playful and interactive way to rethink our environment and uncover hidden beauty. While repurposing everyday objects is a hallmark of Stéphanie D’heygere’s work, she never neglects the practical and versatile aspects of her designs. Her spring-summer collection, named The Single Bride, humorously honors wedding season: a wedding band that doubles as an ear cuff, engraved inside with the inscription “Forever Yours, D’heygere”. A subtle nod to marital tradition while modernizing it. The multi-functional aspect is also a signature of the brand, which creates 2-in-1 accessories like the Day & Night hoop earring: featuring two clasps and two finishes—one smooth and the other adorned with stones—it allows for an effortless transition from daytime to evening wear.
While the designer’s interest often leans toward everyday objects, she is largely inspired by the Surrealist movement. She plays with proportions: a five-cent coin becomes an oversized ring, while a hair clip is worn as an earring. Even the ear itself, used as a display base, turns into a piece of jewelry. Enough to intrigue passersby but also attract brands eager to collaborate with her. From the iconic four-color Bic pen to the heritage-rich Longchamp, the Paris-based label appeals to both legacy houses and emerging brands, such as eyewear specialist Gentle Monster. Yet another proof that boldness and constant reinvention are the new cornerstones of contemporary luxury.
