For Moncler Grenoble, high fashion and high altitude are the same thing
Moncler Grenoble's FW25 show was perhaps the most pharaonic ever put on by the brand
March 17th, 2025
In the episodes of The Young Pope, quoting the poet Brodsky, Paolo Sorrentino had Jude Law say that «beauty, at low temperatures, is beauty». A phrase that was impossible not to think of while watching the Moncler Grenoble FW25 show held this weekend at the peak of the French Alps, at the Altiport of Courchevel, which was transformed into a spectacular runway for the occasion. At an altitude of 2,008 meters, in a landscape dominated by snow and the cold light of winter, the brand of Remo Ruffini created an immersive multi-day experience that blended fashion with technical performance in an event that was not just a runway show but a true tribute to the Alpine lifestyle. The weekend began in Les Trois Vallées, where guests fully embraced the mountain atmosphere, skiing, snowboarding, and trekking with snowshoes. For those who preferred a more relaxed perspective, panoramic terraces offered the perfect retreat to admire the snowy landscape, while the crisp air and high altitude heightened the sense of exclusivity and adventure. The atmosphere of the event became even more evocative as evening fell, when guests arrived at the Altiport just as a heavy snowfall began. Beams of white light outlined the runway space while the audience, seated around a horseshoe-shaped catwalk, were wrapped in white cloaks that blended with the surrounding snow as the grand show commenced. The live accompaniment of a symphony orchestra made the moment even more spectacular.
Moncler Grenoble has always embodied the fusion of high performance and sophisticated style. The FW25 collection took this philosophy to new heights, presenting a wardrobe built around the concept of "Altitude as an attitude," which guided the entire presentation, conveying not only a physical elevation—represented by the high-altitude show—but also a stylistic and technical ascent. The runway show was conceived as a journey between innovation and tradition, with relentless research that transformed technical garments into pieces of high tailoring. The collection, consisting of 140 looks, undertook the challenging task of reimagining classic ski wear for a new era: in a discipline where technical clothing is often so standardized, how can every skier express themselves on the slopes? This is why winter sportswear has been reborn with a new sartorial touch. One of the first notable aspects is how the brand has pushed the boundaries of traditional alpine color palettes, offering a range of neutral shades such as white, beige, brown, and gray, enriched with accents of light blue, deep red, and rich tones of navy blue and black.

Behind each garment lies meticulous research into materials and processing techniques. Knitwear, for example, played a starring role throughout the collection, spanning from outerwear to mid-layers, and even skirts with sophisticated textures. The tweed-inspired suits, featuring finely crafted wool embroidery on patchwork of nylon laqué, added a touch of timeless elegance. The use of unexpected fabrics for performance wear, such as denim and canvas inspired by workwear, pied-de-poule wool, and bouclé, showcases Moncler Grenoble’s ability to reinvent the concept of technical apparel without compromising performance. Tactile elements like shearling—a key trend of the season, both on mountain peaks and in urban settings—whether natural or synthetic, enriched the collection, appearing in enveloping coats or as tailored details on collars and cuffs. Intricate inlays on ski suits and jackets brought artisanal craftsmanship into the performance world, transforming functional garments into true design pieces. The collection introduced a new aesthetic language for the mountains, where technical excellence merges with the sophistication of high fashion. Uniting two icons of the ski world, the collection also marked the collaboration between Moncler and Moon Boot, presenting a series of models that will be seen everywhere in Courchevel and beyond next winter.
A very important detail of the collection was the exclusive Moncler Grenoble x WHITESPACE snowboard, designed in collaboration with Shaun White. The legendary snowboarder and global ambassador of the brand contributed to the creation of a high-performance model, capable of tackling all types of terrain with agility and stability. This element further emphasized the deep connection between the brand and the world of winter sports – disciplines that require high technical quality not only in clothing but also in all the equipment and tools used by athletes. It is emblematic how, with this show in the snow, Moncler Grenoble wanted to reaffirm its authority in the world of winter sports, highlighting how the excellence the brand pursues is not limited to just clothing but to the overall alpine experience and how Moncler itself remains the true authority capable of building a bridge between high fashion and athletic techwear – not by chance, together with Shaun White, several international stars were also seated front row at the show, including professional skiers Alex Hall and Richard Permin and Chinese snowboarder Xuetong Cai, all Moncler Grenoble ambassadors. Every element of the event, from the choice of location to the musical accompaniment, not only highlighted how Moncler Grenoble remains the undisputed king of the mountains but also how the brand is perhaps the only one in the world capable of redefining the very concept of performance luxury.
