Last night, the Aeffe Group announced that Lorenzo Serafini, creative director of Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini since 2014, will become the new creative director of Alberta Ferretti. The brand’s founder, Alberta Ferretti, who currently serves as the Group's vice president, had announced her retirement last September. Upon the official announcement, she stated: «I am thrilled to announce that Lorenzo will be my successor […] With the fashion world in constant transformation, I firmly believe that Lorenzo possesses the creativity, strong aesthetic sense, professionalism, and skills necessary to take on this challenge.» Serafini’s debut as creative director of Alberta Ferretti will take place during the Milan Fashion Week in February 2025, with the Womenswear FW25 collection. At the same time, Philosophy will undergo a significant change: as stated in the press release, the brand will be integrated into the Alberta Ferretti line, «with the goal of strengthening the brand’s appeal and positioning for the future.» This decision reflects the desire to better meet market needs and optimize the Group's structure.

The merger between the two brands has already had positive effects, with Aeffe’s Milan-listed shares recording a 3.34% increase just hours after the announcement. From a strategic perspective, the union between Philosophy and Alberta Ferretti is a promising step, as it not only brings economic benefits for the Group but also reflects a natural alignment between the two aesthetics. The Philosophy collections, which before Serafini’s arrival in 2014 served as Alberta Ferretti’s second line, share an ethereal and elegant aesthetic, characterized by delicate palettes and fine lace. Alberta Ferretti expressed full confidence in the new artistic direction for her namesake brand: «Ten years ago, I entrusted Lorenzo with Philosophy, and he successfully developed it into a thriving brand. Now, it is time to write a new chapter for Alberta Ferretti, whose essence aligns perfectly with Lorenzo’s vision. Lightness, femininity, and sensuality are already part of his vocabulary, and I am certain he will beautifully express them within the world of Alberta Ferretti.»

Entrusting Lorenzo Serafini with the creative direction of Alberta Ferretti and integrating Philosophy into the brand is part of a broader reorganization strategy for the Aeffe Group. As CEO Massimo Ferretti points out: «Lorenzo was a natural choice for this role: his aesthetics, vision, and deep knowledge of the industry and our company will be fundamental in guiding the brand’s next phase of evolution.» The Romagna-born designer, in addition to leading Philosophy, has a rich career history, including roles as a womenswear designer at Dolce&Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli. Alberta Ferretti’s announcement of her retirement marks a transformative moment for Aeffe, which has already begun internal restructuring involving all of its brands, including Moschino and Pollini. Just last year, after Jeremy Scott stepped down as Moschino’s creative director, the brand appointed the young Adrian Appiolaza as the new artistic director, inaugurating a fresh creative phase.
