The 80s have never been so trendy and so close

While we are currently living in a time where vintage and sustainable fashion are not only everywhere but also highly trendy, the situation was not quite the same in 2014, when RE/DONE, an eco-friendly denim brand, was born in Los Angeles. After 10 years of adventure and thanks to its innovative approach, the brand and its unique recycled pieces are now worn by the biggest Hollywood stars and fashion icons, such as Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid. Today, another prominent figure in the fashion world is spotlighting RE/DONE jeans, Mel Ottenberg. “I wear a lot of jeans. I typically wear vintage 80s Levi's 505s because they look great on the butt and have the perfect leg”, explains the fashion expert, stylist, and editor-in-chief of Interview Magazine. After entrusting his denim look to his colleagues at RE/DONE, the perfect denim uniform, MEL by RE/DONE, was born.
The uniform consists of the MEL jeans in two washes (medium blue and light acid), a trucker jacket, the Club Mel graphic tee, and a selection of recycled Levi's 505s, all unisex and, of course, sustainable. The MEL jeans style is very classic and very 80s. The high waist allows them to be worn tight and high on the hips, or more casually and relaxed. And to honor the brand that made RE/DONE famous by taking their models and recycling them, and also because the 505 is the true essence of Ottenberg, according to his own words, a limited edition of recycled Levi's 505s was also created for the occasion. As for sustainability, the MEL jacket and jeans are made from 100% organic cotton. The RE/DONE/Levi's 505 garments are 100% recycled from vintage denim, while the graphic tees are made from 30% recycled cotton using old-school tubular construction.
