Merch ‘unlocking’ the singer's new single via NFC chip

This morning, Demna and Massimiliano Pani, son and producer of Mina, announced in an interview for Vogue that the Tigress of Cremona will soon collaborate on a capsule collection with Balenciaga, designed for the announcement of the new single "L'amore vero". The creative director of the fashion house and Pani revealed few details about the project but explained that, alongside the collection, Mina also worked on a playlist of fifty songs. Additionally, on the same day of the capsule launch, her new track, the first single from the new album set to be released in November, will be released in a limited edition. To access the pre-release, you will need to scan the NFC chip on the label of a capsule t-shirt (which features the singer's face and, on the back, her complete discography) or the QR code found inside the frame of a pair of sunglasses. The accessory, as revealed by Demna and Pani in the interview, is inspired by the iconic makeup that the Tigress of Cremona used to wear during her television appearances and features the singer's signature laser-etched.
This will not be the first time Mina's eternal voice has been involved with the fashion world: last year, on the occasion of the first collection by Sabato de Sarno for Gucci, a remix by Mark Ronson of the song "Ancora" served as the soundtrack for the show, later becoming a commercial success. In the conversation between Demna and Mina's son, Balenciaga's creative director recounts discovering the singer in 2011, listening to one of her songs on the radio in a Veneto bar-restaurant. «Before I knew it, I found myself totally obsessed,» recalled the designer. «I immersed myself in her live performances, her albums… She was simply the right performer for that period of my life when I was looking for a way in music to express the melancholy and sadness I had in my heart following the breakup of an important relationship.» Pani said that Mina, being a great fan of Demna's work, immediately accepted the collaboration proposal with Balenciaga, perhaps because she recognised in the Georgian designer's work the same boldness and avant-garde spirit that characterises her own.
