Celebrating art students in the new SS25 by AMBUSH
Creative director Yoon Ahn designs for the 'misfits'
June 27th, 2024
The new SS25 collection by AMBUSH embodies the rebellious and innovative spirit of designer Yoon Ahn, who drew inspiration from the unique style of art students and their passion for contrasts. With a mix of vintage, sportswear, and avant-garde details, the collection takes a surprising turn, managing to combine adolescent naivety with unexpected maturity. The lookbook perfectly represents the characters for whom Yoon Ahn wants to design, the so-called "misfits of the arts" who love to reflect their vibrant personalities in their clothes. Refined fabrics made in Japan are combined with vivid colors to emphasize craftsmanship, with tailored plaid jackets, mini kilts, and white shirts forming a subversive uniform, while tops adorned with bows and lace capri pants tell of a post-class leisure moment. Even ruffled skirts and cardigans, in full college style, are reinvented, reworked according to the laws of chaos and nostalgia.
AMBUSH® menswear collection is a collage of high and low style, with canvas shorts paired with bold graphic rugby shirts. The classic gray plaid suit is reinterpreted with knee-length kilts and cowboy belts. Black bouclé tweed fabrics and blue shirts with argyle knit front panels showcase the designer's skill in combining traditional materials with modern elements, while the jewelry reflects a mix of different currents of thought, from pearls to floral details, from studs to heart shapes. Even the sunglasses explore punk style, decorated with piercings. The SS25 collection by AMBUSH celebrates growth and nostalgia, while managing to maintain the bold and countercultural edge that has always distinguished Yoon Ahn's brand.
